Zangador Research Institute

Zangador Research Institute/ZRI is a non-profit organisation specialised in interdisciplinary fundamental and applied research, especially in the field of tourism and education. Its mission is to stimulate and promote scientific research, knowledge development, and innovations in order to improve social well-being. ZRI aims to enable efficient partnerships between the scholarly community and practitioners in order to ensure the relevance and real-life applicability of scientific research. We stimulate collaboration among different academic and industry sectors in search of synergistic cooperation by organising educational and training programmes, conferences, lectures, workshops, seminars, and other public events.

Zangador Research Institute is specifically focused on the popularisation of the academic achievements among the business, and works for improving the educational landscape in the hospitality and tourism. Our experts have extensive experience both in the hospitality and tourism, and in higher education, and often serve as connectors and facilitators between the academia and the business.  Main activities implemented by the ZRI include, but are not limited to:

  • Transfer of knowledge and innovations
  • Dissemination of research findings and outcomes, and facilitation of their sustainable application by companies, public institutions and other organisations
  • Preparation, development and implementation of analyses, strategic and operational documents on local, regional, national and international level
  • Education and training programmes and courses
  • Collaboration with various partners to carry out joint research and training, and/or participating in common projects
  • Organisation of academic and business conferences, lectures, workshops, seminars, and other public events

Prof. Stanislav Ivanov, PhD

Prof. Stanislav Ivanov serves as a Full Professor at Varna University of Management, Bulgaria. His extensive academic leadership includes roles such as Vice-Rector for Research from 2016 to 2024, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs from 2012 to 2016, and Academic Director from 2008 to 2012 at the same institution. Since 2006, he has been the Founder and Editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Tourism Research. Additionally, he initiated the ROBONOMICS – the Journal of Automated Economy in 2020 and has been its Editor-in-chief since then. Since March 2020, he also holds the position of Director at Zangador Research Institute. In his project role, Prof. Ivanov is a Researcher and the Co-Leader of Work Package 4 (WP4).

Assoc. Prof. Maya Ivanova, PhD

Maya Ivanova is an Associate Professor in Hospitality and Tourism at Varna University of Management, Bulgaria. Her practical experience spans a decade from 2000 to 2010, working as a tour operator and travel agent, and gaining significant expertise in air transport, tourism intermediaries, and the tourism business overall. Since 2011, she has been a certified IATA/UFTAA instructor. Apart from her academic career, Assoc. Prof. Ivanova is a consultant, trainer and coach for numerous business-related courses as well as an expert and participant in a number of projects, e.g.  Pact for Next Tourism Generation (PANTOUR), HELIX: Entrepreneurial Learning Exchange Initiative for Sustainable Hospitality SMEs in the Balkan-Mediterranean Region, PROEXTOUR, CULINART, etc. In the project, she is a Project Manager for Zangador Research Institute, Researcher, and Co-Leader of Work Package 4 (WP4).
